
The Atlantic Project, a pilot for a new international festival of contemporary art, took place in public contexts and outdoor locations across Plymouth, UK, from 28 September 2018- 21st October 2018.
Participating artists include Ursula Biemann, Liu Chuang, Nilbar Güreş, Ryoji Ikeda, Kiluanji Kia Henda, Marie Lund, Carl Slater, Hito Steyerl, Tommy Støckel, SUPERFLEX and Vermeir & Heiremans amongst others. Curated by Tom Trevor, the project has been developed as a partnership between The Box (formerly Plymouth City Museum) and University of Plymouth, hosted by Peninsula Arts, in the lead-up to the Mayflower 400 anniversary in 2020. The Atlantic Project is part of the two-year Horizon programme (2016-18), led by Plymouth Culture, supported by Arts Council England's 'Ambition for Excellence' fund and Plymouth City Council.
