UNIT3 is a CIC created with the primary mission to provide spaces and opportunities for the creative arts to flourish through engaging with communities of all sizes. From our studio base and exhibition space in Cornwall we work with artists, communities and funders across the South West. Having quietly been part of PAW2018 we are delighted to return and work with several groups this year. From the tiniest of tiny things to largescale parade builds, our artists and performers have decades of experience helping people to realise their ideas and getting everyone smiling.
Q & A with UNIT3
What do you love about showing and/or making work in Plymouth?
We love working in Plymouth because in every group we have talked to or worked with we have found a wonderfully positive outlook and friendly faces.
What can you tell us about this project, and why is now a good time to share it?
The two projects we will be sharing this year are fun and active. The plan at Hamoaze House is to work with Staff and their community to dig up urban myths and legends and play about with them starting with a water fight within the grounds. In North Stonehouse we will start with a similar activity but build it up with the guidance of the residents and Friends of Wyndham Terrace. The only confirmed details so far are Highwaymen and women, chalk and water pistols.
What are you excited to see at this year’s PAW, and why?
We are excited to get both groups out and about and enjoying their neighbourhoods and making new friends. If along the way they get to create and see some wonderful art then we will be double excited.
