Last year we explored working with two primary schools to give them greater access to, and understanding of Plymouth Art Weekender. Schools worked with VAP activators Laura and Erin to go on short tours of Art Weekender and get a flavour of what the festival is about. They visited a number of art works across the city centre and were also lucky enough to meet some of the people curating the work too.
We are developing this project further this year by adding in additional workshops with the schools pre-weekender, giving them the opportunity to make their own work in response to artists. The children’s work will be exhibited as part of the Weekender and they will again go on a tour of some of the venues on the opening day of PAW18.
