The annual Plymouth Art Weekender SOUP Micro Funding Event is back!
How SOUP works
If you want to be in the audience on the night you will be asked for a £5 donation on the door. This gets you soup, Column Bakehouse bread, the opportunity to listen to some live music and a vote! On the 23rd of July we'll be inviting five artists or artists groups to pitch their projects to the audience. Each pitch can last for up to four minutes. Audience members can then ask each presenter up to four questions after their presentation. After the presentations, audience members are encouraged to discuss and debate what they've heard. They then vote for the three projects they would like to see funded the most. The three projects with the highest number of votes will receive a small grant of £500 each, plus a third of the takings on the door, so they can run an event during this year's Plymouth Art Weekender.
Plymouth Art Weekender is an ambitious three-day event that will take place across the city from 27-29 September 2019. The Weekender celebrates Plymouth’s visual arts scene and aims to promote the city as an exciting contemporary art destination with exhibitions, activities and commissions by local, national and international artists.
This year our commissioning partners Theatre Royal Plymouth will fund one contemporary art project which uses elements of performance as a key part of the project. If you would like to pitch for this pot of funding, please specify this in your email.
Many thanks to Real Ideas Organisation (RIO) for supporting the annual PAW SOUP Event.
