Thanks to funding support from our friends at Plymouth Culture, we have a pot of artist seed funding to support a PAW 2026 project that responds directly to, or to the themes of, David Cotterrell’s upcoming Sea For Yourself commission Intertidal. Intertidal is a new public artwork created by artist David Cotterrell commissioned by Plymouth Culture as part of the Sea for Yourself programme. The work aims to make Plymouth’s tide visible in unexpected places, bringing it into places where people might not usually think about the sea. The work is designed to build curiosity, encouraging people to look again and enter a conversation about the tide and our connection to it within the context of Plymouth Sound National Marine Park.

We are looking for submissions from artists who engage with the idea of connection through the sea and its tidal rhythm, considering how it links people, places, histories, ecologies, and futures. The work will need to respond to or complement the themes of David’s work such as tides, making visible the invisible and the idea of the intertidal zone as a porous edge.  

The works can be in any medium, and they must already have a site for PAW 2026. As a PAW Seed-funded artist, the event will be listed with PAW directly. If your work has already been submitted for listing, please make sure we are aware of this when submitting your application.
