Contract: Freelance Contract

Annual Fee: £1920

Hours: The fee is calculated to cover £10 per hour for an average of 5 hours a week, with hours to be worked flexibly according to need, between May 2017  –  30th Nov 2018

Job description

VAP are seeking an independent marketeer and website manager to promote the activities of VAP including two iterations of Plymouth Art Weekender (PAW) in 2017 and 2018.

The job role will include:

  • Producing content for facebook & twitter, scheduling posts, creating adverts and coordinating VAP activators use of social media
  • Writing press releases
  • Updating, editing and monitoring both VAP and PAW websites, run on wordpress platforms using Divi and Eventon plugins.
  • Listing events on a variety of public programmes
  • Maintaining a record of all work done and contacts generated on behalf of VAP in the organisation’s cloud storage

You will need to be flexible and adaptable in terms of your approach to working, and be comfortable with lone and home working.

Personal Specifications

Essential Desirable
Extensive experience of using WordPress Knowledge of the visual arts sector in Plymouth and the South West
Confidence in the use of Facebook, Twitter as promotional tools Experience of promoting publically funded programmes or events
Experience of coordinating marketing campaigns Experience of working in the artist led sector
Confident in the use of Google Mail & Google Drive Experience with Divi and/or Eventon plugins
Experience of writing (publishing) press releases Photography skills
Strong written English, with exemplary spelling and grammar Educated to degree level
An interest in contemporary visual art Working knowledge of Html and CSS coding

Visual Arts Plymouth (VAP) is a volunteer-led organisation that represents independent artists, communities and key art organisations in Plymouth. The group of 15 VAP activators bring a huge amount of knowledge, experience and ideas together to raise the profile and promote the diverse range of arts activity happening in Plymouth.

Plymouth Art Weekender (PAW) is a 3 day event celebrating the visual arts and culture across the city, PAW provides a free non-selective platform for artist led activity by offering marketing, advice and professional workshops. PAW 2017 and 2018 will also feature key commissions, supported by the Arts Council England funded Horizon programme plan.

Plymouth Art Weekender is coordinated by Visual Arts Plymouth and funded through the city wide Horizon project, a collaborative programme developed between Visual Arts Plymouth, KARST, Plymouth Arts Centre, Plymouth College of Art, Plymouth City Council, University of Plymouth and supported by Horizon, a collaborative two year programme of visual contemporary arts, funded through Arts Council England’s Ambition for Excellence fund and supported by Plymouth Culture.
