This exhibition brings photography, paint and mixed media works inspired by and made specifically for exhibiting in Plymouth’s nightclub: The Factory. A contemporary music venue that soon promises to merge the concepts of a live DJ venue with that of an art gallery. The factory which already stands as one of Plymouth’s most favoured nocturnal cultured spaces offers a setting, which is far from a traditional gallery space.
Jack- Jack is questioning the medium of paint with his U.V active works. Referencing Op art, Sci-Fi cinematography and light installation; the paintings challenge perception, utilising the medium of light to allure the viewer into the unsettling painting.
Tom- Observing and implementing elements of change within Factory, Tom uses both traditional and contemporary techniques to capture life experiences from both day and night.
Gareth- Exploring the theme of night life through the medium of painting.
This show invites an audience to view a selection of visual art within the walls of a contemporary music and dance space. The show also offers the chance to see the work whilst the nightclub is in use. In the transitional moment at 11pm, the main lights fade and we await what the darkness may bring.
Exhibition runs 22/23/24 September
