This is a collection of objects made by artists, using traditional and modern craft skills in untraditional ways. Some of things may be functional, some may be totally useless. Somethings are crafted by internationally renowned contemporary artists and some by highly skilled local makers from across the south west.
The collection includes a leather travel wallet by David Shrigley, wallpaper by Goshka Macuga for Common Room, a tea towel made by Rosalie Schweiker for Spacex, Juneau Projects giant plywood artefacts from Makers of The Multiverse and many other treasures. Although the collection is displayed at The Weekender, it is also available for handling and borrowing throughout 2017. So, if you’re interested, select your favorite artworks and have a living room exhibition or borrow the whole thing. Its up to you!
This has been developed as part of Penryn Arts Festival 2017, which is celebrating the town’s creative spirit and the artisanal skills that are flourishing in the area, whilst reaching out and drawing links between similar arts practices that are developing internationally. The festival includes a free programme of workshops, meals, screenings, culminating in a skills share fair this winter.
Exhibition runs 23rd- 24th September
