Event Details

Responding to it’s placement within The Athenaeum’s Lecture Room, ‘Platform’ is an evolving and fluid video and sound installation. Essentially a collage, this work takes earlier work ‘EchoChamber’ onward, exploring our relationship to collected information and media from the surrounding environment unearthing potential societal anxieties. Taking the idea of the lecture as a pathway of gaining insight into the world around us, this piece questions the potential for perturbation and claustrophobic isolation brought about in response to misunderstanding.

Using the idea of a lecture ‘series’, the installation and it’s components will alter across the three days of the weekend, expanding on ‘EchoChamber’. Mirroring the surrounding world and its barrage of buzz words and proclamations of lies which create a sense of interpellation, reducing potentially catastrophic ideologies and actions to commonplace idioms that threaten to divorce an individual from the autonomy of their own protest. Unpicking the sense of structured learning, the platform is taken by a stream of image and unsettled sound, reflecting a sense of loss and confusion that overwhelms.
