With a principal concept of Aesthetics third year Fine Art students at the University of Plymouth are linking with those at Swansea University and N. Devon to challenge the way in which the public of the twenty-first century view contemporary fine art in a gallery setting. The show titled Hot Topik is a direct nod to that of the YBA’s whom came to attention in 1992. Pushing the conceptual framework of this show is the daily lives of student’s as lived by the students, triggering an internal dialogue regarding what individuals find aesthetically pleasing. In turn the show hopes to raise the questions; Does art need to mean anything anymore? Is arts purpose to be bourgeois luxury items and does the arts concept matter?
